Question by Go Team!: What would be a good blogging site for me to start on? How do I even blog?!?
I really like writing, and I write for my high school’s newspaper which is bi-monthly, but that definitely isn’t enough writing for me to expose to the world! I’d like to get more of my thoughts and ideas out there, so I recently thought why not a blog? I know the basics of what blogs are, but again, just the basics. How exactly does one work, which sites are best, most read, how do I get people to read mine? So if anyone could help me get started, fantastic! Thank you!

As long as you have the advertisers paying you the mucho to keep their product on your site, then why not? Your site has to be worth enough to them for them to pay you. So, make sure your site development is AWESOME!

Question by Anna Silverheart: Are there any blogging sites that will allow embedding into a personal site?
I have a designed a website, and I would like to have a blog on it. The codes for creating a blog are making my headspin, and I’m not sure I can figure it out.

I know having a free blogging site, such as Blogger or WordPress, would make things a lot easier. However, I want the blog to be IN my site. With my personal banner and links at top, etc.

Is there a code or the like to have a blogging site, but embed it into my site? So I can have a page on my site, but have a window on that that takes up 80% of the page that would be the blogging site.

Or is there any site that show (in simple terms) how to set-up a blog on a website?

You can download blog files from wordpress.org:

http://wordpress.org/download/

The process is very very simple and requires next to no coding skills. You will just need to know the location of your database, in most cases it is “localhost” but if you are unsure you can ask your hosting company. Once you have that information you can install the blog in less than 5 minutes.

To upload and use in a subdirectory of your site you will need to create a directory:
www.yoursite.com/blog
It really is that easy. But if you need more info or help please give me a shout.

Hope this helps

Question by Maureen T: Urgent Help & Will Rate: Uploading a non-wordpress website template embedded within wordpress blog site?
Greetings,

I have a question. I am a novice with using technology and had some help along the way to get where I am now.

Here is what I have done: I used wordpress to upload to a server and my domain name. I have a wordpress blog installed onto my home page of my domain name. That will be a blog and that is fine.

However, I want to sell a digital product on a different page of my site. So, I want to have a sales letter, so the wordpress blog template will not be appropriate to use (I used the notepad chaos template btw). So, I found a free website template online that I want to use. But, I am confused now because I will not be able to upload this site to my wordpress blog.

I want to basically have this website template be the only page on my site that looks like it to sell my digital product. I am stumped and do not know where to go from here. I would appreciate vastly if someone could tell me in simple terms the most effective options for me on how I could go about doing this?

To confirm, I just want one page on my site to NOT have a wordpress template because they are moreso for blogs. Whereas the one page I want to have different will sell a digital product. Again I am a novice with this kind of topic but am anxious to figure something out. Telling me what I need to do in simplistic terms and any links with videos on youtube mirroring your advice would be nice.

Question by Becca: Internet crashed while creating WordPress site?
Hello.

I was recently helping my mom create a blog site on WordPress. As soon as we clicked “create blog,” either our internet or the WordPress server crashed.
We tried to log in with the username we had just created, however it said that it didn’t exist. Then, we went back and tried to re-create the site and account, but it now says that the two names “are reserved and cannot be registered. May be available in a few days.”

Is there any possible way to retrieve the information?

The internet sucks…

Thanks in advance for the help!

I assume you mean a free blog on wordpress.com?

A good place to start would be to attempt to reset your password, using the link below.

If that does not work and you want to use the same user name/blog name, you can try to contact support to see if they can help you.

Question by JB: Linkbuilding: If I comment on a blog and include a link to my site, will it hurt or help my pagerank?
I’m learning about seo, specifically linkbuilding, and I’m just learning about white hat, gray hat, black hat, etc. I’m trying to do some linkbuilding on by commenting on some well ranked blogs and including my link. I’m not just commenting with only my link. I’m making comments relevant to the blog content, and including my link at the bottom, like this:

“That’s very interesting. I’m glad you posted this seo information. I can really make good use of these tips. I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Thanks,
Admin
freeNezy.com

Will google consider this spam and hurt my pagerank for it? Or is this ok?

Best answer:

Answer by JustinM
As far as getting linkjuice/pagerank, it depends on whether or not the blog you are commenting on uses the nofollow tag on links inside comments.
As far as ethics go, I wouldn’t include my link unless my site was relevant or had further information on the topic of the blog post. This will help insure that you link ‘sticks’ (doesn’t get deleted by the moderators of the blog) you don’t want to be marked as just a link spammer.
For example, say you posted a bunch of comments on a high pagerank blog and with something along the lines of “nice post” [link] on few posts.
The admin on that blog might not only delete your comment, but also continue to delete every comment you make from then on out because he thinks you are just link spamming. This would really hurt if later down the road if you had a high quality, relevant comment with more related content on your website that would not only stick in the comments, but drive traffic and maybe even buyers/readers.

So be smart about your posts because they also represent your brand.

I would also suggest simply having your commenter name be your link whenever possible because it’s non intrusive and doesn’t raise flags as much.

gl!
