Question by Rachel: My best friend made me join “tumblr” what am i supposed to do on there?
It looks interesting and I’ve heard of people having “blogs” before, but…what exactly is it? What do people do on blogs?

Best answer:

Answer by Diala
Its more fun to explore peoples blogs than to blog.
I have got an account but barely use, I guess i’m more of a watcher.
Its mostly all about pictures and those short videos that I forgot the name of ( I think they are called GPJ or JPG or something like that).

can i join the peace corps….?

Question by freddy2121: can i join the peace corps….?
im only 17 but i’d like to give my life a purpose rather than wasting time in a boring job in a boring town. Helping people that really need help would boost my moral and end my depressing years in the US
P.S. i am a citizen

I was a PCV 1971-1972. My daughter is one today.

95% of all PCVs have a Bachelor’s at least; 11% have done graduate work. The 5% who don’t have a degree have 10 – 50 years of expereince in a field a host country has asked for, like farming or small engine repair.

It sounds harsh, but good intentions are not enough. In one sense the Peace Corps is like an employment service, in that they match people with skills who want to volunteer with requests from developing countries for people with those skills.

Developing countries don’t need high school graduates. They have plenty of their own. You’d just be taking a job from a local citizen. What they need are college graduates willing to work in an upriver school or a back country clinic. Local college graduates, just like ours, tend to want to work in big cities, where there is something to do at night, a large pool of single people, major league sports, symphony and shopping, etc. etc.

or do I have to go to college

Yes, if you have worked on your family farm since you could walk and have a stellar leadership record in the 4H/FFA.

Otherwise, no.

Hold tight to your dreams, finish college and apply.

Memset Join Influential Aldersgate Group

Guildford, UK (PRWEB UK) 1 May 2012

Award-winning British cloud provider, Memset®, has been accepted as a member of the influential Aldersgate Group.

The Aldersgate Group, founded in 2006, is an alliance of leaders from business, politics and society aimed at promoting the move to a sustainable economy. Its broad membership of leading organisations gives it an authoritative voice both in shaping policy and driving action for change.

Kate Craig-Wood, MD of Memset said: “As a leader in the field of energy-efficient Web hosting and cloud computing for many years we hope to be able to share our expertise and learn from other members in pursuit of our strong environmentalist philosophy.”

“Further, we’re extremely pleased to be able to have a ‘voice’ via the Aldersgate Group which we see as complementary to our other memberships, the Green Economy Council and Intellect’s Climate Change group, in driving forwards the common goal of making Britain an exemplar low-carbon economy,” said Craig-Wood.

Key to the Aldersgate Group is their philosophy of collaboration between different industries, organisations and individuals, engaging with key decision makers in a proactive, constructive and impartial way. Memset joins an impressive membership base that includes big name IT players the likes of Microsoft and BT.

About Aldersgate Group

The Aldersgate Group, founded in 2006, is a high level policy think tank and membership organisation that brings together progressive businesses, environmental campaign groups and influential individuals – including MPs and peers from all three major parties. Its core priority is to make the economic case for high environmental standards, which it believes will be a major part of future economic growth and international competitiveness.

To help the UK become the world’s first low carbon economy, Aldersgate Group lobbies Government for a policy framework that incentivises low carbon practices and a regulatory framework that supports sustainable business decisions. Crucial to the work of the Aldersgate Group is the understanding that for an economy to be truly low carbon, action for high environmental standards must be co-ordinated across all levels.

Collaboration between different industries, organisations and individuals is integral to the influence of the Aldersgate Group and PepsiCo UK joins a membership base that includes Friends of the Earth, WWF, Anglian Water, ASDA, BT, M&S, Microsoft, Philips, the Co-operative and parliamentarians such as Caroline Lucas MP, Peter Aldous MP and Lord Prescott. To ensure that all industries are represented – and none over represented – it limits the number of businesses that can join from each industry.

For a single math teacher with a degree, a credential, two years of experience, no debt and no dependents, easy. For a high school graduate with no skills but lots of good intentions, virtually impossible.

What they need are college graduates willing to work in an upriver school or a back country clinic. Local college graduates, just like ours, tend to want to work in big cities, where there is something to do at night, a large pool of single people, major league sports, symphony and shopping, etc. etc.
